To deepen cooperation between women in eastern and western China, a 37-member delegation of women from Zhanjiang, a city in South China's Guangdong Province, recently visited Liuzhou, a city in South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
Officials of the women's federations in the two cities signed a memorandum of understanding on strategic cooperation in women's innovative development in the digital economy. Representatives from women entrepreneurs' associations in the two cities signed a strategic-cooperation-framework agreement on developing Jinguo Youpin (women's high-quality products).
Under the agreements, three platforms — focusing on women's empowerment in entrepreneurship and employment, cultivation and promotion of women's quality products and women's innovation in the digital economy — will be established. An initiative to cultivate women's digital skills will be implemented, and the in-depth integration of industries with women's characteristics and the digital economy and cultural tourism will be supported.
Some of women's high-quality products and projects from the two cities were exhibited, and several entrepreneurs reached preliminary agreements on cooperation.
The women visited several museums and enterprises in Liuzhou, where they learned about the city's history of industrial development, and about women's involvement in technological innovation and employment.
Zhanjiang Women's Federation and Zhanjiang Women and Children's Development Promotion Society donated 30,000 yuan (US $4,412) to children (and their families) facing difficulties in Liuzhou. Zhanjiang Women Entrepreneurs' Association donated materials worth 20,000 yuan (US $2,941) to local children.
Jia Li, president of Liuzhou Women's Federation, said the federation will deepen practical cooperation with women in Zhanjiang, especially in the areas of rural revitalization, industries with women's characteristics, and women's flexible employment.
