Some participants of STEM Girls, a project under China Women's Development Foundation (CWDF), attended the Forum on Women in Sci-Tech Innovation, part of the 2026 ZGC Forum, in Beijing, on March 28.
The ZGC Forum is a comprehensive, open and high-level international event for enhancing global innovation in science and technology.
STEM Girls, launched in 2018 and sponsored by Samsung China, is intended to help women students, between the ages of 12 and 16, cultivate their sense of innovation, scientific thinking and ability to put ideas into practice. Divided into several phases, the project provides online courses in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, or STEM.
The girls listened to lectures on artificial intelligence (AI) governance, women playing key roles in major engineering projects, cross-country, scientific-research coordination and building of gender-friendly, sci-tech innovation ecology.
They posed questions to women scientists about various topics, including integration of AI and life science, essential qualities of scientific researchers and unique advantages of women in scientific research.
