A training session on how to make huamo (colored steamed buns) was held recently in Taoliang, a village in Jishan, a county in North China's Shanxi Province. The training was part of the "Sister Jin's Mobile Skills Training in Villages" initiative, launched by Shanxi Women's Federation in December 2025.
During the ceremony to launch the initiative, in Yangquan, a city in Shanxi, Hao Huiqin, President of Shanxi Women's Federation, said the initiative will provide practical skills training and convenient services to women, based on their needs. She urged women's federations, at all levels in Shanxi, to pay special attention to the needs of women in remote areas, especially women facing difficulties, and to help them start businesses or find employment.
Training in fruit growing, paper cutting and livestreaming and e-commerce skills have been organized in various places in Shanxi. Many women have used the skills to earn higher incomes. Women have become the main force in promoting the local specialties of their hometowns, and in advancing rural revitalization.
