The All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) recently provided 23.64 million yuan (US $3.3 million), with support from the central authority's special lottery public welfare fund, in assistance to 2,364 low-income women in South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Each woman, who was diagnosed with breast and/or cervical cancer, received 10,000 yuan (US $1,408).
The ACWF has provided financial assistance to "two cancers" patients, nationwide, coping with difficulties for more than a decade. Since 2011, ACWF has allocated 232.46 million yuan (US $32.74 million) from the special lottery public welfare fund to more than 23,000 women in Guangxi.
In recent years, Guangxi Women's Federation has striven to establish a women's health-security system tasked with providing prevention, screening, insurance and social-assistance services. The federation will provide free HPV (human papillomavirus) vaccines to approximately 960,000 school-aged girls in the region by 2027.
The federation has organized a team of 1,000 rural women health promoters, and it has held 5,500 health-related lectures and/or consultations that have benefited 223,000 women.
Women's federations, at all levels in Guangxi, have conducted free cervical and breast cancer checkups, which benefited 9.151 million and 8.753 million women, respectively, by the end of 2024.
