Wuwei (a city in Northwest China's Gansu Province) Women's Federation in recent years has attached importance to the handling of family-related cases as a way of helping to maintain social stability and protect women's rights.
The federation has improved its working mechanism, and it has explored innovative methods to effectively protect women and children's legal rights.
The federation has made every effort to prevent violations of women and children's rights . The federation has followed proper procedures when dealing with such cases. The federation has also endeavored to give practical help to women and children whose rights have been violated . The federation hopes harmony within families will promote social stability.
The federation has established an interconnection system, through which municipal-, county-, township-and village -level family dispute mediation agencies in Wuwei can share information and work together.
The federation has established an anti-domestic-violence-complaint center, an injury-identification center, a women and children's legal-aid center, and a women and children's psychological-guidance center. It has also established a marriage and family dispute mediation committee, which has 101 mediators' teams and a legal advisors' team, composed of lawyers. The lawyers are experienced in dealing with marriage and family affairs, and they eagerly volunteer to provide services. They answer women's questions, via a hotline, and they address the urgent needs of women in difficulty.
Women's federations, at all levels, in Wuwei have organized lectures on legal and psychological knowledge in villages and communities. They have offered legal- and psychological-counseling services, which have benefited more than 12,000 people.
