The 2020 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) convoked the AI Female Elite Forum at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai on July 9.
As the first forum of its kind held by the WAIC, it was designed to call on people to pay more attention to women's power in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI), further promote the awareness of gender equality, arouse women's aspiration to participate in scientific and technological innovation, and inspire more women to take part in future AI development.
With the theme of Her Wisdom, AI Power, the forum invited leading figures from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, officials of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, diplomatic envoys to China, representatives of international giants and famous financial commentators to deeply analyze the role of women in the field of AI, share their thought-provoking opinions on women's power and infinite possibilities in the field, and give professional advice to interested women, showing "her" wisdom in the AI world.
Zhang Wenhong, director of the Infectious Disease Department at Huashan Hospital of Fudan University, spoke highly of women's role in the fight against COVID-19 epidemic and encouraged everyone to find careers they are willing to stick with and dedicate themselves to.
The traditional ideas that women are not good at rational thinking and unfit for scientific research have been proved untrue. When it comes to the development of science and technology, individual differences always far outweigh gender differences.
Advocating women's involvement in the field of AI not only promotes the balanced development of its practitioners, but also introduces a diversified and inclusive way of thinking.
Eleven honored guests of the forum also launched an initiative calling for more women's contributions
in AI's development. It called on people to change the traditional impression in the field of AI, be more involved in innovation and the AI development and make AI benefit more for human development.
The forum also held the prize-awarding ceremony of the 11th Shanghai Women Innovation Awards.
