The ninth China-France Seminar to Combat Domestic Violence was held in Beijing on November 24. The seminar was part of the sixth meeting of the China-France High-level Mechanism for Dialogue on 
People-to-People Exchanges.

Ninth China-France Seminar to Combat Domestic Violence Held in Beijing

 

The seminar's theme was "Legislation and Practice on Combating Domestic Violence: Review and Prospect." Judges, procurators, law experts and representatives of women's organizations from China and France, participated in in-depth discussions on the mechanism of laws to combat domestic violence, relevant judicial measures and regional practices.

Both sides agreed China and France have achieved remarkable progress in legislation development and judicial practice, enhancement of multi-department cooperation, and improvement of public awareness about combating domestic violence. Participants agreed to advance international cooperation, work together to prevent and combat domestic violence, and strive to build a better world for women and for all.

The seminar was cohosted by the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) and the French Embassy in China. It was organized by the China Women's University. Lin Yi, Vice-President and Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF, made the opening remarks during the seminar. More than 100 participants from judicial institutions, women's organizations, academia and media from both countries attended.
