About the All-China Women's Federation

The All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) was founded on April 3, 1949. It is a mass organization that unites Chinese women of all ethnic groups and from all walks of life, and strives for their liberation and development. The mission of ACWF is to represent and uphold women's rights and interests, and to promote equality between women and men.

ACWF practices an organizational system combined of national, local and community-level women's federations and group members. The highest power organ of ACWF is the National Women's Congress and the Executive Committee of ACWF that is elected at the Congress. The National Women's Congress is convened once every five years.

Altogether ACWF has 933,000 local federations, 73,000 cadres , and 1.25 million group members at all levels. ACWF has established 670,000 women's homes in China's countryside, communities and other places where women dominate.
