There's an article on Globaltimes about netizens deriding Bai Ling's role in the Long March. What is womenofChina's view on an actress who has represented Chinese women in such disgusting vulgar ways, with no sense of decency even outside of film, ending up in a film about the Long March of all things? It seems somebody at CCTV REALLY dropped the ball on this.
Thanks for your question. To convince the public, the actress in such a grand documentary film should have been someone who has a favorable reputation and gives positive energy because the Long March was part of a war to defend the homeland. Today nearly every Chinese is fiercely proud of their nationhood and passionately patriotic, including actresses who are not asserting their own will in the entertainment world. Maybe the way she is depicted in the Long March is more important than her style. That's the point we should be concerned about.
The above view is for your reference.
Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any other questions.
