Mu Meets Chilean Ambassador to China

ByYe Shan April 21, 2023

Mu Hong, Director-General of the Liaison Department of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), met René Mauricio Hurtado Navia, Chilean Ambassador to China, on April 19, 2023.

Mu outlined the fruitful results reached during the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) held in October 2022, and the First Session of the 14th National People's Congress held in March. She explained, in particular, the progress of Chinese women's development in the new era and ACWF's major work.

Hurtado Navia spoke of the positive measures the CPC and the Chinese Government have taken to advance gender equality and women's all-round development, and also the remarkable achievements reached in those fields. He said other countries can learn from the practices of Chinese women's development. In particular, he said Chile can learn from the measures taken by the ACWF to help advance legislation for the purpose of protecting women's rights and interests, as well as the federation's measures to enhance women's participation in the decision-making of public affairs and women's participation in scientific and technological innovation and economic development.

Both sides expressed their willingness to work together on women's exchanges, enhance China-Chile friendly relations and advance women's development globally. Mu presented Hurtado Navia with a book (published earlier this year by the China Women Publishing House) about the interactions between Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, and the people during his domestic inspection tours.
