A knowledge contest was recently organized by Yanbian (in Northeast China's Jilin Province) Women's Federation, the social work department of Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefectural Committee of the Communist Party of China and Yanbian Law Society. The purpose of the contest was to improve the level of women and children's rights-protection services in Yanbian, through collaboration of various government departments.
Teams, composed of social workers, law-enforcement officers and staff workers from women's federations, were tested on their knowledge and ability to implement policies, laws and regulations related to the protection of women and children's rights. The questions focused on hot and challenging issues concerning rights protection and grassroots social governance, especially related to the prevention and mediation of marriage and family disputes.
Contestants were also required to study relevant cases, provide in-depth analyses of the cases and offer reasonable solutions to showcase their ability to discover women and children's demands, and their ability to cooperate with other departments when solving disputes.
