Chinese State Councilor Shen Yiqin, also Chairperson of the National Working Committee on Children and Women under the State Council, attended a themed activity, at China National Museum of Women and Children, in Beijing, on June 1, to extend festive greetings to children.
Shen noted Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, recently replied in a letter to student docents at the Memorial Hall of the First National Congress of the CPC in Shanghai and the Nanhu Revolutionary Memorial Museum in Jiaxing, a city in East China's Zhejiang Province, and Xi extended International Children's Day greetings to children nationwide.
Shen encouraged the children to keep Xi's instructions in mind, cultivate firm ideals and convictions, foster a deep affection for the country, nurture a spirit of hard work, develop their overall abilities and carry the baton of history forward on the new journey. Huang Xiaowei, Secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), and Vice-Chairperson of the National Working Committee on Children and Women under the State Council, attended.
During the activity, children, dressed in ethnic costumes, sang Love My China. More than 700 works of art, created by children, were displayed. Shen interacted with the children, encouraged them to love each other, have great love in their hearts, and forge a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation and the vision of building a community with a shared future for humanity, from an early age. She also called on parents, those working in child development, and all of society, to care for and support children's healthy development.
In recent years, the ACWF has promoted fine traditional Chinese culture, and organized a series of innovative, influential children's exhibitions and social-education activities to meet the intellectual and cultural needs of women, children and families. The ACWF has promoted school-family-society cooperative education, and helped cultivate well-rounded children in the new era with sound moral grounding, intellectual ability, physical vigor, aesthetic sensibility and work skills.
