The international conference, "The Role of Women in Modern Society: Promoting International Cooperation for Sustainable Development," was held in Turkmenistan on December 10, 2025. Huang Xiaowei, Vice-President and First Member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), and Vice-Chairperson of the National Working Committee on Children and Women under the State Council, led the Chinese delegation at the event.
During the conference, Huang explained Chinese President Xi Jinping's vision for both the building of a community with a shared future for humanity and the four global initiatives. She also noted the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women, held in Beijing in October 2025, was a milestone in solving worldwide difficulties facing women's development, and in promoting the global community's coordinated actions.
Huang also shared China's historic achievements in incorporating women's cause into efforts to advance Chinese modernization, in promoting women's all-round development, and in ensuring women contribute to and share in the fruits of modernization. While she provided detailed statistics and vivid examples, Huang outlined China's experiences in practicing multilateralism, and in advancing partnerships, to provide opportunities and guarantees for global women's cause.
Huang noted the fourth plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, held from October 20-23, 2025, sent the strong message that China is ready to work with other countries to create opportunities for shared growth. Huang called on all relevant parties to uphold multilateralism, pool women's strength, seize opportunities presented by the changing times, and embrace mutual learning, to implement the consensus and outcomes of the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women, through concrete actions, and to help women across the world thrive and shine together.
Some participants said Chinese women's development has set an example for other countries to follow, and they said they are willing to strengthen international cooperation, advance global governance on women's affairs, and promote accelerated process for women's all-round development.
On the event's sidelines, Huang met Oguljahan Atabaeva, Vice-President for Medical Activities of the Charity Fund for Providing Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship named after Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, in Turkmenistan. Huang also participated in exchanges with Chairperson of the National Assembly (Mejlis) of Turkmenistan, Deputy Prime Minister of Turkmenistan, Speaker of the National Assembly of Sao Tome and Principe, Deputy Prime Minister of Uzebekistan, various senior officials from Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Azerbaijan and Iran and the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.
