The 2025 International Women's Exchange on the Family & Coordinated Development of Women in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area opened in Foshan, a city in South China's Guangdong Province, on November 22, 2025.
Chinese State Councilor Shen Yiqin, also President of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), attended and delivered a speech during the opening ceremony. Shen emphasized the need to implement Chinese President Xi Jinping's discourses on work concerning family, integrate pursuit of family happiness into endeavors to build a strong and prosperous China and to advance national rejuvenation, and work toward new progress in global women's cause, and in work concerning family.
Shen called for implementation of the guiding principles from the fourth plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, held from October 20-23. She also called for actions to improve policies to support family development, help families enhance their development capacity, and promote social harmony through every single family unit's harmony, to lay a solid foundation for advancing Chinese modernization.
Shen also called for implementation of Xi's instructions for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA). She urged that full play be given to women's roles in advancing the practice of One Country, Two Systems, and in building a beautiful home, to promote GBA's coordinated development.
Shen emphasized the need to implement the guiding principles from the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women, held from October 13-14, promote in-depth exchanges and mutual learning with women from other countries, and carry forward new family morality and values featuring love for the country, family and one another, devotion to progress and kindness, and joint efforts and shared benefits, to contribute Chinese wisdom to promoting accelerated process for women’s all-round development.
The event, with the theme "Joining Hands for Happy Home and Bright Future," included several activities, such as the family tradition story sharing and photo exhibition. During the event, staff with women's organizations in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao called on women and their families in GBA to build a happy home in GBA, and to help create a bright future for the country. Staff with Foshan Women's Federation handed the event's flag to staff with Dongguan Women's Federation, as Dongguan will host the event next year.
Huang Xiaowei, Vice-President and First Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF, presided over the opening ceremony. Also attending were approximately 300 Chinese and foreign guests, including women from GBA, foreign ambassadors, representatives of international organizations, trainees from a seminar on promoting women's development in developing countries through artificial intelligence, and friendly personages from other countries.
