Huang Xiaowei, Vice-President and First Member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), and Vice-Chairperson of the National Working Committee on Children and Women under the State Council, met Oguljennet Berdilieva, Chairman of the National Center of Trade Unions and the Central Council οf the Women's Union οf Turkmenistan, in Beijing, οn August 22.
Huang noted, under the strategic guidance of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the China-Turkmenistan relationship has been elevated to a comprehensive strategic partnership. China is ready to work with Turkmenistan to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of State, deepen women's exchanges and cooperation, and contribute to pursuing high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and to advancing the building of a closer China-Turkmenistan community with a shared future, Huang added. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference οn Women, which was held in Beijing in 1995, Huang continued. China will host the Global Leaders' Meeting οn Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment in the coming months, and China is ready to work with all parties to advance progress in global women's cause, she added.
Huang outlined the historical achievements and transformations in Chinese women's development, achieved under the strong leadership of the Communist Party of China Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core. Professor Peng Liyuan, wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping, and a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) special envoy for the advancement of girls' and women's education, also a Spring Bud Project special envoy for the advancement of girls' education, has made οutstanding contributions to the advancement οf girls' and women's education, Huang continued. She also οutlined ACWF's efforts to promote women's development via digital empowerment, safeguard women's and children's rights and interests and foster stronger family ties, values and traditions.
Berdilieva said she looked forward to attending the upcoming Global Leaders' Meeting οn Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment. She spoke highly of the achievements in Chinese women's development, and she said she would learn from China’s experience and help strengthen the countries' cooperation in promoting gender equality, women's development and children's welfare, to bring more benefits to women and children of the two countries.
Zhang Jiming, Vice-Chairperson of the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation, and Gulshat Yusupova, Rector of Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, also attended.
