Spring Festival is the biggest holiday for family reunions in China, but Chen Minglei and his wife, Wang Xiaomei, did not have a chance to meet their loved ones.

Instead, Chen and his wife have both been working on the frontline of the fight against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) at their own posts.

Chen, an armed police officer, in Taiyuan City, North China's Shanxi Province, has not had a family reunion with his wife and parents for a long time.

Wang is a nurse in a hospital in Qingdao, a coastal city in East China's Shandong Province.

In order to ease the shortage of medical workers in the hospital amid the epidemic outbreak, Wang decided to end her maternity leave and return to work ahead of schedule.

Though Chen is worried about his wife amid the tough battle against the epidemic, he supports her decision.

It was not easy for her to make such a decision, since she is a mom with twin babies no more than 4 months old. Her parents' comments also made her hesitant about it at the very beginning.

However, Wang persuaded her parents. Her husband also posted encouraging words in his WeChat Moments the day she returned to her post.

Seeing the photos and words posted by her husband after working overtime until midnight, Wang burst into tears and then soon went back to her work.
