CWUC Council Holds Plenary Meeting in Beijing

The council of the China Women's University Consortium (CWUC) held its sixth plenary meeting in Beijing on December 5, with heads of 10 members of the consortium across China attending.

Liu Liqun, President of the council of the CWUC and President of China Women's University (CWU), hosted the meeting.

The meeting aimed to review newly-applied members, the qualifications of council members, and the addition of board members. It agreed the admittance of the Esther Hall of Shantou University and Kede College of Capital Normal University to the consortium.

Zhang Lixi, Dean of the Esther Hall, Zhou Ying, Vice-Chancellor of Kede College, and Liu Yuelian, Vice-President of Xi'an Peihua University, became new members of the council of the consortium.

Jin Shaman, former Director of the Women's Research Institute of Xi'an Peihua University, will no longer serve as a member of the council of the consortium because of her age. Certificates and awards were issued to new members.

Liu thanked the consortium's council members for their participation and assistance in the 70th anniversary of the founding of the CWU, and their strong support for the work of the consortium over the past year.

In her concluding speech, Liu affirmed the fruitful efforts of the consortium to promote advanced gender culture, implement the basic national policy of equality between men and women, and enhance women's empowerment.

She called on all the consortium members to support each other, actively participate in the activities organized by the members, and further expand cooperation in women's education, in order to create better environment for the development of women's universities as well as make new contributions to the development of higher education for women in China.
