The Course of 'China Journalism and Communication Lectures' Launched at CWU

The launching ceremony of the course of "China Journalism and Communication Lectures" was held at China Women's University (CWU) on November 18, 2022.

Gao Xiaohong, a member of the Teaching Steering Committee on the Journalism and Communication Disciplines in Higher Education under the Ministry of Education, director of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication under the Communication University of China and a member of the "Yangtze River Scholar Program," attended and addressed the ceremony.

According to Gao, a total of 32 media workers from 23 media outlets have recorded courses under the theme of "New Journey in the New Era: Missions and Responsibilities of Journalists" earlier this year.

Gao introduced that the China Journalism and Communication Lectures, established in 2020, invites outstanding media workers to give courses every year, to integrate their practical cases into the teaching content of domestic journalism and communication universities.

Gao called on students to comprehend the responsibilities of media workers in accelerating the development of China's discourse and narrative systems and to better serve the overall interests of the country and the people.

She also urged CWU students to achieve positive results from the courses and contribute their efforts to presenting Chinese splendor to the world, better explaining China's development path and political system and modernization with Chinese characteristics, and promoting the building of a community with a shared future for mankind in the future.

Liu said that the online courses are valuable teaching materials for the education of journalism and communication, adding that the CWU will make efforts to promote the comprehensive development of its teaching and talent cultivation in the field of journalism and communication.

At the ceremony, three media-worker representatives shared with attendees about their stories and gains in recording courses, and gave advices on how to become a qualified media worker.

Participants said that they will learn from these outstanding media workers, and strive to be media workers who can shoulder the mission of national rejuvenation in the future.

Ye Shuiping, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the CWU and Director of the CWU's Publicity Department, presided over the launching ceremony. Nearly 200 teachers and students attended the ceremony both online and offline.
