CWU Teachers Take Part in Social Responsibility Awareness Training

 December 28, 2015

China Women's University (CWU) organized a special training class on November 24-29 to promote awareness of social responsibilities for teachers. The training, divided into themed lectures on- and off campus about social practices, was co-hosted by the CWU's Personnel Department, Department of Publicity and the Trade Union.

About 30 new teachers and related staff took part in the event.

On November 24, Deputy Director of the Department of Personnel Ren Xiyuan gave a lecture about "Social Practices for Teachers Based on the Sense of Social Responsibility and Feeling of Humanistic Care" at the university.

Director of the Department of Publicity Zhang Xiangcun reviewed the donation activities that took place in benefit of the people in the disaster areas after the huge earthquake that hit Wenchuan, southwest China's Sichuan Province on May 12, 2008.

Associate Professor Yang Jing, from the School of Gender & Social Development, combining her personal experiences, highlighted the great importance of participation in social practice for teachers.

A series of on-the-spot teachings, themed-lectures, seminars and social practices off campus were launched and took place from November 26-29. Trainees firstly visited the heavily damaged Beichuan Qiang Autonomous County, and closely looked at the Tangjiashan quake lake. They also visited the Wenchuan Earthquake Memorial Museum through videos, photos and exhibits, and reviewed the process of reconstruction after the disaster.

Trainees also visited the Red Army Memorial Hall during the period of on-the-spot teaching. They learned about the history of the Red Army's revolution in Sichuan, and understood the Long March spirits of optimism, heroism and collectivism. An outward bounds event was also arranged to communicate with local people in Shiyi Qiang Village, where trainees made further understanding of Qiang culture.

The CWU has always attached great importance to ethics in the education of its teachers and taken a lofty sense of social responsibility as an important content of teachers' ethical construction.

The training made attendees profoundly raise their senses of social responsibility and mission, and they promised to play a better role in imparting knowledge and education to people in future.
