 September 25, 2015

China Women's University (CWU) held a seminar on "Reform, Development and Innovation" in order to further adapt to the current trend of higher education integrating with social resources, at the institute's Xizang Building recently.

In accordance with the government guidelines outlining the "Three Stricts and Three Steadies", CWU invited 22 honorary professors, distinguished professors and chair professors to the event. Organizers hoped to harness academic exchange and cooperation through the experience of external experts.

The conference was sponsored by CWU Personnel Office, and presided over by CWU vice-president Liu Meng. All school leaders and middle-level officials participated. Vice-president Song Shengju introduced the basic situation of CWU, and analyzed the development problems and future work ideas in detail.

Taking into account the present situation, a total of 22 experts, who come from the All-China Women's Federation, Peking University, Tsinghua University, Beijing Normal University, Communication University of China, Nankai University, and other units, discussed women's universities and gender studies together. They also presented specific recommendations on management, strategic orientation, personnel training, faculty development and campus environment construction.

CWU President Liu Liqun summarized the event. She highly affirmed the contribution of the experts, and thought that the conference was a "spiritual feast". She said, "at the macro level, the experts' suggestions involve the education background and academic research. In the smaller aspect, they include professional development and building of talent teams."

In order to recognize the value and significance of the school, to further clarify the school's development direction and objectives, to discover the development problems, and to further explore the development paths and measures, combining the experts' suggestions, Liu asked the CWU leadership to study specific items, and absorb them into a "comprehensive reform program" and the upcoming "13th Five Year Plan" of the CWU."

Education is a long-term career choice. We should work together to further clarify our objectives, seek multiple forms of support and common development, further design development paths and allocate resources scientifically, further highlight the status of teachers and students, and stimulate vitality. It is our duty to create a beacon to lead the way for advanced gender culture, to develop excellent women, and to set an example in women's universities in China," Liu added.
