CWU Organizes 'Raise Ethics, Build Spirits' Summer Social Event for Teachers

A group of China Women's University (CWU) teachers recently went to Jinggangshan College of Red Culture Education to take part in the college's "Raise Professional Ethics, Build Teachers' Spirits" summer social program. The activity was organized by the CWU's Trade Union, Publicity Department, and Personnel Department from July 17–21, and was led by Vice-President Wang Jingxia.

At the city of Jinggangshan's many revolutionary sites, teachers attended lectures on "Modern Values of Jinggangshan Battle and Spirit" which were given by Li Zhong, professor of the Jinggangshan Cadre Institute. The studies had profound connotations and timeless value, drawing on the famous "Jinggangshan Spirit".

At a teaching session called "The Jingangshan spirit passes on from generation to generation", the descendents of the Red Army recalled the heroic deeds of the revolutionary martyrs.

The teachers were all moved by the former revolutionary's noble spirits, resolve, and firm belief in the motherland. During the training, teachers visited the Jinggangshan Revolutionary Martyr Cemetery, and laid wreaths at the war memorial.

They also visited Jinggangshan Revolutionary Museum, Huangyangjie Defense Battle Site, Maoping octagonal building, Xiaojing Red Army Hospital, and Longjiang Academy, the cradle of People's Liberation Army's military academies. They walked on the road which was used to deliver food to the Red Army, and recalled the memorable years in which the early Communists fought for the revolution in the arduous environment.

After five-days "Red Training", which is combined with subject teaching, on-site teaching, experiential teaching and interactive teaching. Teachers understood the Jinggangshan Spirit of "strong faith, hard work, seeking truth from facts, daring to take new roads, relying on the masses, having the courage to win", and further understood the fine traditions of the Communist Party of China and historical source of the revolutionary spirit.

The teachers also strengthened their ideals and beliefs, enhanced their pioneering courage to innovate and confidence to win. They all said that they will develop the Jinggangshan Spirit themselves, do their own job well, and contribute to the development of the school in future.

CWU attaches great importance to its teachers' moral constitution, and pays much attention to teachers' social practices. It also issues "opinions on the implementation of long-term mechanism on teachers' moral construction by CWU Committee", perfects the social practice system of investigation, has a research and volunteer service, and provides a development platform for teachers.

The lessons were an important measure of CWU teacher's social practice, and the institution's methods to promote the development of its teachers. The attendees greatly benefited from the activity.
