 July 23, 2015

The first season of the outdoor competition for the capital's college students, named "Go Challenge", came to a perfect end at Beijing Miyun International Youth Camp on June 7.

The event was jointly organized by Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League (CYL), Beijing Students' Federation and the Chinese Mountaineering Association.

After three days of intense competition, under the leadership of Pan Chaoyang, teacher of the Sports Department of China Women's University (CWU), five students performed outstandingly well and won the "Challenge Award" and "The Most Characteristic Team Award".

The winners are Dong Yanjun, Shi Wenjun, Zhang Pengwei, Xia Yixue and Chen Yijia, and they come from Management Department, Social Work Research Department, School of Arts, School of Gender and Social Development, and School of Child Development and Education respectively.

Teachers from Social Practice Department of the University Committee of the CYL collected the certificates on their behalf.

The competition is divided into three stages including the knockout, repechages and final games.

In the "18 to 9" knockout session, five CWU students qualified with outstanding performances in the tasks of rock climbing and camp construction. The next "9 to 3" session was more difficult. Members asked to finish directional cross-mountain mission with a relay race. They went ahead and crossed the final line with outstanding scores. Although they failed to enter the championship game, everyone obtained awards through their own efforts.

All the students gathered together in the evening of June 6. They showed their talents on the stage and won applause. CWU students brought songs and a Taekwondo performance, and got high praise from organizers and other attendees.

After the event, students thanked the university for providing the valuable chance to challenge themselves, and will always remember the tough experience and hard-won progress the game provided. The University Committee of the CYL will continue to build platform for exchange in future and contribute to show the youth's potential.
