The People's Government of Liuzhou City, South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, implemented its 2020 nutrition improvement plan by adding a temporary price subsidy of one yuan (US $0.15) per day for each child due to the rising prices and a meal subsidy of five yuan (US $0.73) per child per day.

The government encourages schools to formulate nutritious recipes to meet the needs of students at different ages in accordance with local conditions, and to guide the preparation of meals and students' catering in a scientific way, in a bid to improve the nutrition of the students.
