Fuzhou of China's Fujian Province and Tacoma of America's Washington State are two cities on opposite sides of the Pacific Ocean that have shared a close sister-city friendship for over 30 years. In 2008, the Affiliated High School of FIE and Lincoln High School in Tacoma also signed a memorandum on exchange. Since then, they have held over ten student and teacher exchanges, promoting friendship and understanding between Chinese and American youth.
During the Bond with Kuliang: 2025 China-U.S. Youth Choir Festival, 39 students and teachers from Lincoln High School visited the Affiliated High School of FIE. Both sides presented carefully prepared performances, expressing their cultures through music and art.
Notably, in September 2015, five students from the Fuzhou school visited Washington and performed the song "On the Hopeful Field" together with the Lincoln High School choir. This time, two returned to their alma mater and joined in singing the same song once again.
What did they say to each other when they reunited with the Lincoln High School choir teacher after all these years?
