Since the resurgence of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the women among the 200,000 medical workers in Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region have gone all out to fight on the front line, sticking to their posts day and night for over a month. Their efforts contributed to the sharp decrease of confirmed cases, which is a phased achievement in the anti-epidemic fight.

There were no new confirmed COVID-19 cases reported in Xinjiang as of 24:00 on August 16, the first time since new clusters of COVID-19 infections emerged in the autonomous region in mid-July, the regional health commission said on August 17 in its daily report.
