Ma Weiwei, Director of Pediatrics Department at Hanzhong Central Hospital, has been extremely busy this winter due to the high occurrence of children's respiratory diseases in the season and the intense prevention work in response to the novel coronavirus outbreak that originated in Wuhan City, Central China's Hubei Province.
On the evening of February 2, after working for several days and nights, Ma received a box of fresh vegetables sent by the Women's Federation of Hanzhong City to her home.
Like Ma, dozens of medical workers in Hanzhong City have recently received the unexpected delivery, which is part of the efforts that the city's women's federation has made to provide women doctors and nurses with strong backup support.
Since the virus outbreak, medical workers in Hanzhong have joined the fight day and night. Seven medical staff, including six women, went to Wuhan, the epicenter of the outbreak, for aiding the coronavirus control efforts.
"Many female medical workers need to work day and night to ensure the health of the public. The women's federations should take action and help them ease their burdens and worries caused by the overload of work," said Wang Cuihong, President of the city's women's federation.
In the outbreak-affected Xixiang County, Hanzhong City, the county's women's federation worked on taking care of the family members and children of quarantined patients.
The city's women's federation has also provided online courses for the children of the six women doctors and nurses going to work in Wuhan, and offered professional psychological counseling to medical staff and their family members.
Dong Junying, Director of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department of Hanzhong People's Hospital, said the care and help of the women's federations move the medical staff greatly and encourage them to work hard and contain the outbreak.
