China Children and Teenagers' Fund (CCTF) launched a project, which promotes the protection of children's sight, in Shenzhen, a city in South China's Guangdong Province, on June 21.
Under the project, 40 public lectures will be arranged for parents and their children in Futian, Nanshan and Luohu districts, all in Shenzhen. Free lighting-environment tests will be offered to households in the districts.
Representatives of several community-level Party (Communist Party of China)- affairs service centers in the three districts were appointed as the project's community partners.
During the first lecture, instructors talked about the causes of and how to prevent and control myopia. They also explained the impact of the in-home lighting environment on children's sight.
Under the project, eye-care lights will be donated to families of visually impaired children.
