CWDF and PepsiCo Launch Rural Empowerment Center Project

The Rural Empowerment Center project was recently launched by the China Women's Development Foundation (CWDF) in Bali Elementary School, in Linshu County, Linyi City of East China's Shandong Province.

The inaugural ceremony drew the attendance of Vice-President of the CWDF Wang Yinxiang, C.D. Glin, President at PepsiCo Foundation and Global Head of Social Impact, Shi Jiaqi, Chief Group Affairs Officer of PepsiCo Asia Pacific and Greater China, and officials of relevant government departments in Linshu.

During the event, Wang, Glin, Shi and local officials presented books to students and joined them to attend a scientific experiment class.

Wang said the project is expected to conduct relevant activities to help communities and schools better solve practical issues, and she hoped local teachers, students and the public will gain benefits from the project and strive for a bright future.

In 2014, the CWDF and PepsiCo jointly kicked off a library project to support the development of education in rural China. Based on the library project, the Rural Empowerment Center project was launched to improve teaching conditions in rural schools, empowering women rural teachers, improve scientific literacy of rural students, help rural women and their families increase agricultural skills and vigilance against risks, facilitate the implementation of rural revitalization strategy and nurture rural talents.

Additionally, the project will build empowerment centers with the joint efforts of schools, families and residential communities to deliver better services to residents, promote the development of families and communities, and contribute to rural revitalization.
