CWDF Launches Project to Protect Women and Children's Mental Health

The China Women's Development Foundation (CWDF) launched Xinyuan Plan (or Heart Cycle Plan) in Linyi County of Dezhou, a city of East China's Shandong Province, on September 29. The project was aimed at strengthening mental health education and assessment, providing early warning and intervention, and protecting the mental health of women and children.

During the launch ceremony, Dong Kui, Vice-President and Secretary-General of the CWDF, said the project will pool the strength of people from all social sectors, explore pragmatic and efficient project management models, deliver mental health services to more mothers and children, and make contributions to the Healthy China Initiative.

Dong presented a donation certificate to Xi'an Zhongshengkaixin Technology Development Company. Liu Fang, president of Dezhou Women's Federation, released the implementation plan of the project.

Professor Lin Danhua from Beijing Normal University held a lecture on the diagnosis and treatment of common mental health problems among students.

The project will offer mental health screening to elementary and middle school students in pilot schools in Linyi and give specific guidance to them.

Additionally, psychological experts will be invited to hold professional training for backbone teachers over mental health knowledge and skills, and carry out health publicity and education activities for students and their parents so as to build a mental health defense line with the extensive participation of families, schools and society and promote the healthy growth of students.
