Intangible Cultural Heritage Artwork Exhibition Held in Beijing

 2024-10-18

The public welfare project Genius Mom of China Women's Development Foundation (CWDF) and Sheraton jointly unveiled a cultural and artistic exhibition featuring Chinese intangible cultural heritage in Sheraton Grand Beijing Dongcheng Hotel on October 14. The exhibition provided the public with a platform to better appreciate intangible cultural heritage and relevant artworks and helped empower women practitioners in their further development.

The launch ceremony was attended by Nan Jing, Assistant Secretary-General of the CWDF, Tian Qingyao, Vice-President of Marriott International Greater China's Marketing, Telecommunication, High-level and Premium Brand Department, and representatives of intangible cultural heritage practitioners from Guangxi, Guizhou, Hebei and Hubei.

Leading women practitioners of intangible cultural heritage brought with them Guangxi's Zhuang embroidery products, Guizhou's maple-fragrance dyeing, Hebei's cloth-pasted painting and Hubei's Tujia brocade, which conveyed their best wishes and blessing, showcased local residents' enthusiasm for life and their aspiration for the future, and revealed fresh vitality of traditional Chinese handicrafts.

They also showed attendees their extraordinary skills, talked about the stories behind relevant intangible cultural heritage, and led the audience to appreciate the charm of intangible cultural heritage.

Nan said that the Genius Mom project is dedicated to promoting the inheritance and development of Chinese intangible cultural heritage through women practitioners' techniques and wisdom. She added that the cooperation with Sheraton will build a new platform for the exhibition of relevant artworks, provide the public with a new form of cultural experience during their travel, help people better appreciate glorious Chinese culture, empower women practitioners, and further stimulate their potential as well as creativity.

Tian said that the Sheraton's cooperation with the project is designed to transform the hotel chain into a public space for visitors to appreciate Chinese culture through exhibited artworks of intangible cultural heritage and help them gain a fresh travel experience.

In the next step, relevant artworks associated with the project will be on display in nearly 100 Sheraton hotels across the country to show the charm and stories of numerous women intangible cultural heritage practitioners.
