The Human Resources and Social Security Department of Shandong Province, and Shandong Women's Federation, recently issued a circular promoting the employment of mothers, whose children are younger than 12, across the province.
The circular states human resources and social security departments, at all levels, should make lists of local enterprises that are able to provide jobs to a large number of women, especially mothers with young children, and the departments should publish their lists on local public-employment-service websites.
The circular encourages enterprises, social organizations and private business to provide jobs that allow mothers to choose the time and place of their work.
It also states efforts will be made to raise public awareness of the importance of providing "mother-friendly jobs." Employers should provide baby-care rooms for women employees. Skills training will also be strengthened, to help women employees improve their vocational skills.
