The General Office of the National Health Commission, the National Patriotic Health Campaign Committee's Office, the General Office of the Ministry of Civil Affairs, the General Office of the All-China Women's Federation, and four other departments, jointly issued a notice on comprehensively carrying out the building of healthy families.
The notice stresses a healthy family means its family members maintain their own health, master necessary health knowledge and skills, practice a civilized, healthy and sustainable lifestyle, inherit good family traditions and values, maintain a healthy family environment, and maintain physical and psychological health and have a good social life.
The notice proposes key tasks in building healthy families: Improving family health literacy, creating a healthy family environment, cultivating a good family culture, and improving the working mechanism for building a healthy family.
Greater efforts will be made to increase support for children whose parents work away from home, children in difficulties, families with migrant children, disabled elderly people, elderly people who live alone, octogenarians and severely dependent elders, the notice states. Various activities will also be held to encourage families to participate in the building of healthy families.
