China Children and Teenagers' Fund (CCTF) has launched a series of public reading events nationwide through such projects as Love Bookcase and Ankang Library ahead of this year's World Book Day (April 23). The goal is to further improve public awareness of reading, guide children to acquire more knowledge, and enlighten their minds.

A total of 1,000 students from Siyang County of East China's Jiangsu Province received books donated by the CCTF, Jiangsu Women and Children's Welfare Foundation, and Lelecha tea brand.
The Love Bookcase project is expected to provide students with high-quality reading resources, raise their reading interest, help them foster good reading habit, and further enrich their spiritual world.
The students said that they will make full use of each book, study hard, and strive to return social assistance with outstanding academic performance.

A wide range of reading activities have been held in newly-built libraries in Boye and Zhuolu counties of North China's Hebei Province, Jishui and Shicheng counties of East China's Jiangxi Province, Congjiang and Nayong counties of Southwest China's Guizhou Province to allow students to find their favorite books, share their reading experience and feeling, realize personal dreams and make differences in their lives through reading.

Meanwhile, over 2,000 reading corners nationwide have kicked off their colorful reading activities to commemorate the World Book Day. For instance, a group of children from Shanyang County of Northwest China's Shaanxi Province gathered to read illustrated books, share personal feelings, and forge friendship in the process of discussions and exchanges. Children from Haiyan County of East China's Zhejiang Province participated in reading and the making of traditional tie-dye craft. Children from Beijing's Changping District attended an outdoor reading activity that was designed to foster their reading interest in the midst of games.

Furthermore, similar reading events have been organized in 12 schools associated with the Kui Charitable Initiative in Qinghai, Gansu and Yunnan provinces to mark the arrival of the World Book Day. Qingyuan Middle School in Qinghai's Hualong County convened a parent-child reading activity to help its students gain new knowledge. A primary school in Gansu's Huanxian County invited students to read and recite classical Chinese literature and poetry. Teachers from an elementary school in Yunnan's Honghe County guided more than 20 rural children to attend a collective recitation of Youths' China, a famous essay written by historian and educator Liang Qichao (1873-1929) in 1900.

Together with China Petrochemical Corporation, the CCTF has organized reading activities at the "Spring Bud Gas Stations," encouraging the Spring Bud girls read more books and helping them nurture good reading habits, enhance cultural confidence and further improve their comprehensive competence.
