China's Chen Yiwen Wins 4th Straight World 3m Synchro Title

 2025-07-30

SINGAPORE, July 29 (Xinhua) — China's Chen Yiwen clinched her fourth consecutive world title in the women's 3-meter synchronized springboard at the World Aquatics Championships here on Tuesday.

Chen Yiwen, partnering with 20-year-old Chen Jia, delivered a steady performance to win the gold with 325.20 points, edging out British duo Yasmin Harper and Scarlet Mew Jensen by 26.85 points. 14-year-old twins Lia and Mia Cueva Lobato of Mexico took the bronze.

26-year-old Chen Yiwen first won the world title in this event at the 2022 Budapest Worlds, maintained her dominance alongside Chang Yani through championships in Fukuoka and Doha.

"I think for me, at this stage, being able to perform the way I truly am might be more important. It's always been that way - including the last Olympic cycle," Chen Yiwen said. "I still hope to deliver better performances and achieve higher scores in competitions. Hopefully, I can break 400 points once again."

Despite missing out on a podium finish in the women's 1m springboard last Saturday, Diving World Cup Super Final champion Chen Jia bounced back with a composed performance in the women's synchronized 3m springboard, capturing the first world championship gold of her career.

"Joy outweighs sorrow now," Chen Jia said with a smile.
