"I'm grateful to my country for my happy life," said a Tibetan woman who is resettled as part of China's poverty alleviation efforts. Along with more than 1,000 people, 58-year-old Qiang Zhen relocated to Chido Township of Dengqen County, southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region years ago. Many of their houses collapsed in a 5.5-magnitude earthquake in 2016. Qiang Zhen rented a stall in the local market and quickly adapted to new life. China is on course to eradicate extreme poverty across the country by 2020, which will make the country the first in the world to end absolute poverty.
