China's Catering Industry Achieves Restorative Growth with New Trends

 September 21, 2020

The COVID-19 had hit China's catering industry hard before the pandemic gradually subsided in recent month. People strictly followed virus prevention and control measures, maintaining social distancing. Many customers changed their eating habits and stayed away from restaurants. However, signs of recovery are emerging with new trends. According to the Meituan Dianping, a major online food delivery and ticketing services platform, as of September 10, the recovery rate of consumption in China's catering industry was 101 percent, and the return rate of merchants reached 105.7 percent. Higher requirements have been put forward for safety, health and green quality of catering. Online catering platforms help consumers make consumption inquiries and reservations. The epidemic has also reminded people to refrain from wasting food. Thrift is becoming the prevailing practice in the whole process of catering production, processing and service.
