ACWF VP Meets Ethiopian Delegation in Capital

Xia Jie, vice-president and member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), met an Ethiopian women's delegation on April 5 in Beijing.

The delegation was led by Bizunesh Meseret, state minister of Women and Children Affairs of Ethiopia.

Xia spoke highly of the close ties and women's exchanges between China and the African nation. She introduced the main work of the ACWF and the achievements made by the nation in regards to women and children's causes.

She noted that the country is glad to deepen its people-to-people exchange and practical cooperation with Ethiopia and other African nations, whilst promoting the conclusions of the recent Global Summit on Women as well as the Johannesburg summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.

Xia said she hoped to fulfill the targets of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda and achieve women's comprehensive development.

Bizunesh thanked the ACWF for its invitation and praised the friendship between the two countries, and the achievements made by China.

She said she would take the visit as an opportunity to draw on the experience of the country in terms of poverty alleviation and the promotion of women and children's all-round development, and further enhance bilateral exchange, friendship and cooperation.

Later, the delegation visited the China National Museum of Women and Children and China Women's University. The delegation visited north China's Tianjin on April 6 to see women and children's work in the city.
