Namibian Delegates Visit CWU
Humphrey Geiseb, a Namibian ambassador to China, visited China Women's University (CWU) recently, where he attended a seminar.
Ye Shuiping, director of CWU's International Cooperation Department, Li Ying, dean of the International Education School, and Li Lianzhi, dean of CWU’s Continuing Education School participated in the event, which was presided over by CWU Vice-president Liu Meng.
Liu warmly welcomed the visitors and introduced CWU's development history, academic characteristics, undergraduate curriculum, objectives in talent cultivation and its basic situation concerning international exchange.
Liu also laid out CWU's efforts and accomplishments in protecting women and children's rights and interests, and promoting gender equality as well as legislation on anti-domestic violence.
CWU initiated a foreign aid project for a Masters in social work in the first half of 2016 and received positive social feedback. As the first and the only State-owned women's university, CWU is committed to promoting international communication among women and will continue to develop institutionalized exchange programs in the future, Liu added.
Geiseb thanked the directors for their warm reception and shared Namibia's experiences in promoting gender equality and women's progress. In addition, he commented that he was impressed by CWU's achievements in increasing employment opportunities for female students, improving women's status, as well as promoting gender equality and women's development.
Geiseb also exchanged opinions with the participants on CWU's foreign aid project and said that Namibian government appreciates China's efforts in promoting the progress of developing countries and is expecting to cooperate with China on global concerns. He hoped that more Namibian students could come to China and study at CWU in the future.
