Women and a Beautiful World

The world currently faces prominent problems affecting the development of human civilization, such as tightening resource constraints, serious environmental pollution, ecological degradation and frequent climate disasters. We need to constantly explore sustainable development paths and governance models.

The community of shared future for mankind relies on and will finally result in the coexistence of man with nature and a clean and beautiful world. President Xi Jinping pointed out that in order to build a community of shared future for mankind and to have a world of everlasting peace, universal security, common prosperity, openness, tolerance and cleaness, we must protect the environment and our home planet on which human survival depends. The Astana Declaration of the Heads of State of the SCO emphasized "the importance of continuing all-round and mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of energy, including renewable and alternative sources of energy", and also reflected the strong will of all countries to achieve coordinated progress in economic and social development and environmental protection.  Since women play an important and unique role in social development and family building, neither human beings nor society would exist without women. In this regard, the "big family" of the SCO should fully recognize the potential and contribution of women, further examine and adjust the policies and institutional arrangements for women's participation in global social and environmental governance from a gender perspective, increase women's voice and participation, in order to provide support and guarantee and eliminate discrimination and obstacles for building a beautiful world shared by all.

We look forward to sharing the challenges and solutions for women in green development, resource conservation, ecological protection, as well as disaster prevention and mitigation. We wish to discuss the positive and unique role women shall play in upholding the concept of environmentally friendly production and life, and in building a harmonious and beautiful family. We also wish to discuss how women's institutions and organisations in various countries could enhance coordination and jointly safeguard ecological security and promote the well – being of mankind.
