CPC Names 11 Women on Draft List Honoring 100 Role Models of Reform, Opening-up

Zhang Yuejiao, a CPC member, was born into the city of Jilin, northeast China's Jilin Province, in October 1944.

Zhang was an independent arbitrator at the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes of the World Bank, director-general of the Department of Treaty and Law in the former Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, and first Chinese justice in the World Trade Organization (WTO).

Zhang has been closely relevant in the negotiation and formulation of many important trade rules and treaties, handled a number of international disputes related to investment and trade, greatly contributed to the construction and improvement of China's legal institutions with an emphasis upon foreign trade, and promoted the country's law-ruled image on the world stage.

Furthermore, she has taken part in China's negations with the U.S. and European countries on foreign trade, investment and intellectual property rights and made contributions to the country's accession into the WTO.
