Minority Ethnic Groups of Sichuan Make Great Progress on Poverty Alleviation

Located in the northwest of Sichuan Province, Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture has made great progress on poverty alleviation by developing various industries including tourism, cultural products, ecological protection, etc. As of March 2020, a total of 103,400 people have been lifted out of poverty in the prefecture.

Chen Xiangqian, 30, learnt the silver making craft from his father when he was a child. In 2014, with his mother suffering from a serious illness, Chen's family got impoverished. To support his family, he opened a silver ornament shop. In 2017, Chen was named a county-level inheritor of Qiang gold and silver making craft, which brought him a better life.
