Miao Embroidery Brings Prosperity to Rural Women in SW China's Yunnan

Small women's poverty alleviation workshops, with a mode of cooperative, have been established in Pingbian Miao Autonomous County, Southwest China's Yunnan Province, in recent years. The poverty alleviation workshops have developed paintings, embroideries and other cultural and creative products with the elements of Miao ethnic group. It provided job opportunities to left-behind women, whose husbands have migrated to other places for work, at the doorstep.

In 2019, nearly 300 local women were trained with embroidery skills, and they earned a monthly income of about 4,000 yuan (US $565.3) through making embroideries in the Miao embroidery poverty alleviation workshops in the county.
