The Seventh National Women's Congress was held in Beijing on September 1-6, 1993. The basis of a report by Huang Qizao, Vice-President and First Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF, concerned "Women throughout the Chinese Nation Uniting and Making an Effort to Build Socialism with Chinese Characteristics." Huang summarized the basic experiences during the 15-year women's movement since the start of reform and put forward goals for women's development by the end of the century. Chen Muhua was elected President.
