On the occasion of the International Day of Families on May 15, the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) held a meeting in Beijing at which it initiated the Family Happiness and Well-being Campaign and announced the 2019 list of the most beautiful families in China. A total of 999 families were awarded the honorary title.

Family work is one of the important tasks of women's federations and a major focus for women's federations in serving women, Shen said at the meeting.
She emphasized that the Family Happiness and Well-Being Campaign meets the needs of women and all families, adding that it would become a major focus of family work plan for women's federations in the future.
Shen said family work should center on cultivating a new generations of capable people who could undertake the task of national rejuvenation, and it is imperative to highlight the cultivation of good virtue and be effective in solving tough issues in family education.
Women's federations could improve family education by developing guidance materials, expanding service channels, innovating measures and providing convenient, professional family education guidance services to parents, Shen mentioned.
She called for further efforts to promote legislation in the field of family education and improve the guidelines in that area. She said the roles of women and children's homes, parents' schools in urban and rural communities and more platforms gathering social forces is necessary to form a good educational pattern involving families, schools and social forces.

Huang Xiaowei, Secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group of the ACWF and Vice-President and First Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF, elaborated on the implementation of the work.
Huang said that General Secretary Xi Jinping highlighted the role of family building, calling for the whole Party and all of society to pay attention to family education and traditions. Xi also raised clear requirements for women's federations at all levels. They should fulfill their family work duties well, give play to the unique role of women in families, and help socialist core values to take root in families.
Huang said four actions should be implemented according to the campaign's plan, namely building good family culture, supporting family education, improving family services, and deepening research on family issues.
Women's federations at the grassroots level are also encouraged to undertake creative practices and summarize and share their good experience in the work in a timely way, Huang added.
Cai Shumin, Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF, introduced the main arrangements of the Family Happiness and Well-Being Campaign at the meeting.

Representatives of the most beautiful families in China received books on family education and family health at the meeting. The first members of the think tank on family culture were presented with their appointment letters.
More than 200 people attended the meeting, including experts, government officials and representatives of the most beautiful families in China.
