Students from two schools in Wuxi City, East China's Jiangsu Province, on August 9 paid a visit to Tao Manmei, an elderly five-star volunteer of the Red Cross Society of China (RCSC) who was also known as a gold-medal volunteer of Wuxi.
During the visit to Tao's home, also dubbed as Tao Manmei Volunteer Service Family Archives, the students watched photos of her 29 years of volunteer services and the honors she has received.
In nearly three decades, Tao devoted more than 20,000 hours to voluntary activities, including collecting medical funds for impoverished and sick students, poverty relief and fundraising, as well as blood donations for the RCSC.
Tao has been awarded dozens of honorary titles, such as five-star volunteer and the lifelong honorary award by the RCSC and the National Health Commission.
The activity encouraged the students, who were the first visitors to the Family Archives since its opening, to learn from Tao's volunteer experiences and become public-spirited citizens who are ready to help others.
