An art exhibition of promoting the Red Boat Spirit kicked off in Beijing on May 16 to mark the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
The Red Boat, refers to the small red boat on the South Lake in Jiaxing City, E China's Zhejiang Province, where the first CPC congress concluded in 1921. The Red Boat Spirit highlights pioneering work, striving spirit and dedication.
The exhibition, themed with "Daughters of the Red Boat — Celebrating the Centenary of the Founding of the CPC," displayed 61 paintings, photos and videos by 47 artists featuring outstanding women in the causes of revolution, construction and reform in China and outstanding women in the new era. It aims to promote the great Red Boat Spirit and urge women to follow the Party's leadership and embark on a new journey.
Guided by the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) and the Publicity Department of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the CPC, the exhibition was organized by the Zhejiang Women's Federation, the Zhejiang Art Museum, and the China National Museum of Women and Children (CNMWC).
Shen Yueyue, President of the ACWF, announced the opening of the exhibition. Shen pointed out that the Red Boat Spirit is the origin of China's revolutionary spirit and its profound meaning of pioneering work, striving spirit and dedication will never fade in Chinese people's minds.
Shen urged giving full play to the role of the exhibition in guiding and encouraging people both online and offline to study the Party's history, understand its theories and comprehend the great spirit of the Party.
Shen also emphasized utilizing revolutionary resources, passing on the tradition of revolution and promoting revolutionary spirit, in a bid to guide women to contribute to fully building a modern socialist China and celebrate the Party's centenary with outstanding achievements.
Huang Xiaowei, Secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group and Vice-President and First Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF, also spoke at the opening ceremony.
Cai Shumin, Vice-President and Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF and curator of the CNMWC, heads of departments and affiliated institutions of the ACWF, and representatives from Zhejiang Women's Federation, the Zhejiang Art Museum and the China Female Artists Association also attended the ceremony.
