Huang Meets Brazil's First Lady

Huang Xiaowei, Vice-President and First Member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), met Brazil's First Lady, Rosângela Lula da Silva, in Beijing, in mid-May 2025. Rosângela was accompanying Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on his State visit to China.

 

Huang noted, under the strategic guidance of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Brazilian President Lula, the friendship between the women of the two countries has deepened increasingly. She expressed hope, with the upcoming Global Leaders' Meeting on Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment as a new starting point, the countries will help advance the global cause of women's development.

Huang also explained China's efforts to foster stronger family ties, values and traditions in the new era, as well as China's achievements in poverty alleviation and China's experience in helping women shake off poverty. 

Professor Peng Liyuan, wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping and a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) special envoy for the advancement of girls' and women's education, also a Spring Bud Project special envoy for the advancement of girls' education, has made outstanding contributions, Huang continued.

Rosângela spoke highly of China's achievements in the cause of women's development, and she said Brazil will support China as it hosts the Global Leaders' Meeting on Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment. Brazil and China share a vision for combating hunger and poverty, and for promoting women's development. Brazil, she added, is willing to collaborate with China on more projects to benefit women and girls.

Lin Yi, Vice-President and Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF, also attended.
