Evan Kail (C), a pawnshop manager from the United States, learns to make the local street food "Jianbing Guozi" in north China's Tianjin Municipality, Nov. 28, 2024.

In 2022, Kail donated a photo album to China. The album features photos of Japanese atrocities in China during WWII. Two years after making this donation, Kail decided to embark on a month-long visit to China.

Before he actually arrived in Beijing on Nov. 16, the news of Kail coming to China went viral on social media, with Chinese web users expressing their welcome and inviting him to different parts of the country to have a look.

Kail started his trip in Beijing, and will also spend time in Tianjin, Shanghai and Nanjing — where he plans to visit the Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders. [Xinhua/Li Ran]
