Women's Exchange Meeting Commemorates 50th Anniversary of Normalization of China-Japan Diplomatic Relations

The Liaison Department of the All-China Women's Federation and the Department of Women's Affairs of Soka Gakkai (from Japan) cohosted a women's exchange meeting via video link on December 9, 2022. The meeting, with the theme "Inherit Friendship, Create the Future Together," was held to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the normalization of China-Japan diplomatic relations.

ACWF's representatives outlined the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the historic achievements reached in Chinese women's development during the first decade of the new era. They expressed ACWF's willingness to work with their "sisters" from Japan, adhere to the principle of peace, friendship, cooperation and win-win relations, enhance mutual learning, deepen friendship and mutual trust, advocate common values of humanity, and advance women's all-round development. They said the ACWF is also willing to make new and greater contributions to a sounder development of China-Japan relations during the next 50 years, and to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

Representatives of Tianjin Women's Federation reviewed their friendly exchanges with the Department of Women's Affairs of Soka Gakkai. Students from China Women's University and Nankai University expressed the desire of the younger generation to inherit China-Japan friendship and make joint efforts to strive for a better future and a better world.

Representatives of the Department of Women's Affairs and Women's Peace Committee of Soka Gakkai extended warm congratulations on the successful conclusion of the 20th CPC National Congress. They spoke of CPC and the Chinese Government's commitment to work for "the interests of the people," to persist in safeguarding women and children's rights and interests, and to advance the implementation of gender-equality concepts. They mentioned Daisaku Ikeda, who advocated the normalization of China-Japan diplomatic relations, and whose friendship with Zhou Enlai and Deng Yingchao had a long-term, positive influence on the advancement of friendly relations between China and Japan. The Japanese representatives said Soka Gakkai will continue strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation with China to pass on the friendship between the two peoples from generation to generation and boost an everlasting friendship between the two countries.
