Lin Meets UNFPA Representative in China

 

Lin Yi, Vice-President and Member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), met Justine Coulson, Representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) China in Beijing on September 27, 2022. They exchanged views on the cooperation between the ACWF and UNFPA, and had an in-depth discussion on topics of common concern.

Lin spoke of the long-term friendly cooperation between the ACWF and UNFPA, and expressed gratitude to UNFPA for its help and support. She outlined comprehensively the policies and measures taken by the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Chinese Government to advance equality between men and women, safeguard women's rights and interests, and promote women's overall development since the 18th CPC National Congress held in 2012. She explained ACWF's initiatives to enhance women's development, protect women's rights and interests, safeguard women's health and promote family building.

Lin said the 20th CPC National Congress (held in October) would draw a macro-outlook of building China into a great modern socialist country in all respects adopting a two-step strategic plan. She added that the congress would create a wider and promising future for Chinese women to achieve more progress in the new era. The ACWF will enhance its communication with UNFPA to innovate cooperation contents and formats, and make concerted efforts with UNFPA to advance gender equality and women's overall development.

Coulson spoke highly of the fruitful results of cooperation between UNFPA and the ACWF, and praised the partnership between the two sides. She also sincerely appreciated the great achievements China has made in advancing women's development and gender equality. She said China's good practices in aspects such as improving women's reproductive health and enhancing women's career development are worth promoting worldwide. She added that UNFPA will continue deepening its cooperation with the ACWF, and sharing with the ACWF its practices and experiences in safeguarding women's rights and interests, advancing family building and reproductive care supporting. She hoped the two sides can make joint efforts to speed up fulfilling the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.
